FAQ

How many people will be there?

Between 20-30, always with an even balance of men and women

Can I bring a friend?

Absolutely! Just make sure you are purchasing the right ticket type. If it's a friend of the same gender, get two tickets. Or you can get a pair ticket if they are the opposite gender

How will we swap contact details?

  1. We will set up some house rules to guide everyone through the awkwardness :)

  2. First, no one is allowed to ask for anyone else's number. This means people have to give away their own number.

  3. Second, the person accepts the number (even if they are not interested) because they don't have to contact the person. Bingo! No in-person rejection

  4. We will talk this through on the night, it's fun!

When you say facilitated, what do you mean?

  1. You will be seated at tables in groups of four (two men, two women).

  2. We will guide three rotations, moving to three different tables across the night, meeting new people each time.

We encourage people to play the game Deeper Questions to get the conversation going.

What's the flow of the night?

  1. Bar opens a little early, so feel free to come and get a drink!

  2. There will be someone (obvious) to welcome you at the front door

  3. They will take you to get a drink at the bar

  4. You will be given a name badge, seat rotation instructions and blank papers to write you number on and share with others

  5. Seating is random at the beginning based on order of arrival

  6. Once everyone has arrived, there will be an opening kōrero to explain the house rules and other details

  7. First round! Everyone will move to the first table they are allocated. Conversation starters provided by Deeper Questions

  8. Drinks/loo break

  9. Second round

  10. Drinks/loo break

  11. Third round

  12. Close and hang around to keep talking if you want

  13. Go home and feel proud of yourself for getting out there

  14. [next day] Tell your friends a fun story about the time you went to an event called “Fuck the Dating Apps”

Who is running these events?

A few random people who are single and sick of swiping. We want to meet people and have fun while doing it… and there weren't a lot of options. So we decided to create something ourselves!

If I’m feeling nervous, what should I do?

  1. Drag a friend along with you!

  2. Come a little early and say Hi to us, (we will look after you!)

  3. Come a little late so you don't have to free mingle :)
